I joined with the intention of trying to help improve all lifestyles of residents of Troon. I believe it is important that we work for the people of Troon and engage with other groups when finding common values. Working as a team is the way forward to make a town where young and old wish to live.

Having grown up in Troon, I understand the beauty of the town but see the need for more activities for all age groups, in particular, the younger demographic. I believe the Trust can impact positive change for our town.

I think the work and the potential of Troon Development Trust is of huge benefit to Troon. Troon needs to be united as one community and I feel the Troon Development Trust, over time, can achieve this. I feel honoured to be on that journey as a Trustee and if I can help in any way then I am more than happy to do so.

My wife Cathy and I moved from London to Troon in 2017. Born and raised in in Los Angeles, I’ve also lived and/or worked in The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and India. We became dual US/UK citizens in 1999. We have two married daughters and three grandchildren.  Over 35 years, I’ve led global People and Organisation Development functions across various industries. I originally began volunteering with Troon Together in 2020 and transitioned to become a trustee of Troon Development Trust in 2023, believing strongly in giving back to the community we call home.  I hope I can contribute to the success of Troon Development Trust to help make Troon a better place to live, work and visit.

Ian Girvan (In Memoriam)

Position: Project Co-Ordinator

It is with much sadness that we have to inform you of the death of one of our Trustees Ian Girvan. Ian has supported the Development Trust for many years as a member of Troon Together before joining the Troon Development Trust as a Trustee.

Ian was in charge of taking forward the project of redesigning the Italian Gardens within Troon.   He worked tirelessly with the contractor and other sponsor organisations to ensure that the work was carried out in an efficient way and within budget.  The gardens will be a place of enjoyment for years to come for the community.

Ian will be sadly missed and our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Fiona and all the family.
